FEB 12//TUSOK-TUSOK

Tusok Tusok

Ilona Fiddy @nocentjokes will be joining Fringe for the second time, offering bookings for flash and custom pieces. The always growing collection of flash art can be viewed under #FLASHxFIDDY – for inquiries please contact originalfiddy@gmail.com by January 30. Please include measurement, placement, and as much specific detail as possible in your booking request.

Focusing on tattoo in the last 3 years, and with decade of experience in multidisciplinary art & design, Ilona’s past work has explored themes of identity, isolation & strength in community, of othering and perpetual occupation of liminal spaces. In her tattoo practice especially, she is protective of the indistinct borders between cultural appreciation and appropriation. Her work likes to consider what is sacred, to oneself and to another. Tattoos by hand is not a trend, it is an ancient and loving act, a conduit of ancestry and personal narrative.

FEB 16//MOMENTS OF MOVEMENT

“Moments of Movement” is a dance video series created by Director & Cinematographer – Mark Valino. Often shot with one-take, and completed within three hours, the artists meet, choose a song, then begin filming. This series explores the collaboration and expression of 3 different mediums: dance, cinematography, and the universal language of music. The artists not only connect to the music, but also to their surroundings, where simple corners turn into colourful canvasses. Creatives often over-edit and censor themselves, therefore this short time span limits that habit, compelling them to embrace their imperfections and be spontaneous in the moment. Many of the artists who have participated have found this creative process challenging and inspiring, and were grateful for this liberating experience.
